PLEASE CHECK FOR INFORMATION ABOUT SUMMER CAMPS, PROGRAMS, TEAMS, TRYOUTS AND ACTIVITIES in the office or on the bulletin board!

 

 

 

Reminders:

  • WEB Leaders:  You will be in 6th grade classrooms today.  Don’t forget part of this activity needs to be set up ahead of time.  See Mrs. Lacey, Mr. Grierson or Mrs. Waters with questions.
  • Attention student council members; we will have our final meeting next week on Monday, the 12th in Mrs. Mack’s room.  Please arrange for a ride home-the meeting  will only last 30 minutes. We will discuss plans for next year.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Mack, Ms. Germer or Mrs. Jenkins. 
  • 8th Graders – your Elitch’s permission slip is due in tomorrow!
  • 6th & 7th Graders – please remind your parents that pre-schedule pick up papers are due into the office by May 30th
  • Attention all 8th grade volleyball players.   Please get your washed jersey and two dollars to Ms. Davies or Ms. Timinski by Monday.  You will be charged a $15 dollar replacement cost on Monday, if you don’t turn in your jersey.
  • All NJHS Members – Please remember that your individual service projects are due by Friday, May 16th to either Mrs. Snaer or Mrs. Hissem. Reflection forms are located outside Mrs. Snaer’s door.
  • Attention ALL  International Club members….Come join us for our  last club meeting next Tuesday, May 13th in room #305. We will be visiting Africa!

  • 7th grade NJHS members, we will have a short meeting tomorrow to hold officer elections and discuss continuation. Please be in attendance at 7:15 in the mini-theatre.
  • 7th Graders interested in going to Washington DC your early registration deadline to receive the cheaper rates has been extended. Register no later than June 1 if you would like to take advantage of the cheaper rates. Prices will go up after June 1. See Miss Deering if you were unable to attend the information meeting or if you need a new packet of information.
  • Attention 8th grade Volleyball players turn in your washed jerseys and two dollars into Ms. Davies or Ms. Timinski ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Here’s some information about a volunteer opportunity.  If you are at least 14 years old and interested in volunteering in a medical setting, Swedish Medical Center has a Junior Volunteer Program that has been popular with some of our students.  You must be willing to spend at least four hours a day, one day a week at the Medical Center.  You can do this either during the day or evening but you must do a minimum of 35 hours during the summer.

Space is limited so you need to sign up early.  There was a long wait list last year and some kids didn’t get to participate.  If you have questions see Mrs. Hoffman in Counseling and she’ll get you the contact information.

·         The 8th grade volleyball team competed in the district tournament on Saturday.

B teamed played their best match ever.  They took Goddard to three nail biting matches and lost in three 21-25, 26-28, 11-15.

A team won their first match 29-27, 26-24 against Euclid for third place

And C team, after a slow start won the C team championship against Euclid 23-25, 25-21, 15-5.

And as a reminder, please get your washed jersey's and two dollars to Ms. Davies or Ms. Timinski as soon as possible.

       Attention 8th graders: If you are interested in giving a speech at Continuation, the auditions will be held in Homeroom on May 5th.  Your speech can be about your memories or experiences at Newton-funny or serious welcome! Individual or Duet speeches are acceptable. Be prepared at the audition with your completed speech! If you have questions or to sign up see Ms. Meagher, Ms. Lacey or Ms. Jenkins.

  • STUDENTS - Please make sure you are reading the copy of the announcements that is posted in your classrooms. There is a lot of information about sports team tryouts, summer camps, etc listed on these copies. Information on these activities can be found either on the front bulletin board or in the office
  • 8th Graders - Artwork of a Newton Knight for the Continuation program is due today!
