Instrument Screening Night for 2013-14 6th Grade Band and Orchestra Students
There will be a screening session for incoming 6th grade band and orchestra parents and students at Newton Middle School Monday, April 8th, 6:00-7:30, in the NMS music rooms and cafeteria. This screening is required for any student wishing to participate in 6th grade instrumental music next year unless you have already been playing an instrument in a school or private music program, or private lessons. It is suggested that you arrive no later than 7:00 so that you have plenty of time to try a variety of instruments. There will also be music stores available to answer your questions about renting an instrument. You will be able to rent an instrument at that time if desired.
Once you have selected an instrument, please submit the Online Music Registration Form.
Please do this no later than April 20th. This is so that we can get accurate information for scheduling next year’s classes. There is also additional important information regarding the music program at that site. Especially take note of the Instrumental Music FAQs.
If you are not able to attend the screening session on April 8th, there will also be sessions at Euclid Middle School April 3rd, Powell Middle School April 4th, and Goddard Middle School April 11th. You will be able to play and rent the instruments at this session as well. With the exception of Powell Middle School at 6:30, all of these sessions begin at 6:00 PM.
