Our author study provides students an opprotunity to choose an author of interest, read and reasearh that author, write about the author, and possibly communicate with the author! Through their research and the use of mentor texts, students will work on writing a biography of their chosen author and citing sources used in their research. If the author is living, students will be provided with an extension opprotunity of writing a letter, email, blog post or tweet to the author. Sometimes, authors even write back!

(Google Docs)
Workshop Guide 1
- Use this one if you do not have a solid draft. This is for narrowing your focus and helping to get started in the writing process.
Workshop Guide 2
- Use this one once you have a solid rough draft: focus is already established, more than one short paragraph is written, and you're ready to revise.
